BIG PICture, now136

Tameside council buildings have been empty now for eight months after everything has been relocated to Thing Street, and Wilko’s was moved upstairs in the Arcades.

On Monday 4 January the demolition process begun.

The scafolding was erected, the crane could be seen from the top of Heartshead Pike and the dust cover was mounted.

Dust filled the outdoor market but stall holders were out in high numbers for their first market since New Year.

However the same could not be said for customers, whether it be because of January blues or the bulldozing there were few shoppers around.

The rejuvenation of Ashton Market is showing as the new outdoor market stalls are coming to a finish after eighteen months work, and now the council buildings being revamped, by 2018 Ashton will have under gone a full transformation.
