Final version of Noel

Noel Gallagher and Johnny Marr both took to the stage at the Apollo in Ardwick for the Radio X Roadshow on 2 December.

The two legendary Mancunians took to the stage for a crowd of 3500 eager fans.

Johnny led the show singing classic tracks like Easy Money and Candidate with the occasional Smiths anthems like There Is A Light That Never Goes Out as the crowd sang back at him with smiles on each of their faces.

To end the night, the main act was Noel Gallagher, who saw his first gig. The Damned, at the Apollo when he was 13.

He played hits off his two solo albums, from the rock riff filled tune Riverman to his indie love song If I Had A Gun.

Inbetween his solo tracks he slid the occasional Oasis song in, Half The World Away and Champagne Supernova being just two of the six Oasis indie anthems he played.

For the whole night the crowd reacted enormously to these two world class acts.

I spoke to a fan outside the venue. Gary Saville, 47, engineer from Stalybridge said: “Tonight was one of the best gigs I’ve been to in a while.

Seeing Oasis and The Smith’s songs played live with my daughter who never got to see the two bands play was amazing but the highlight of the night for me was definitely There Is A Light That Never Goes Out.

They are undoubtedly just as big as they were back then.”

Johnny Marr played his full UK tour in October and has no scheduled concerts planned as of yet.

Nicholas Bowe, 19, customer service assistant, Dukinfield said: “I missed his UK tour so to get tickets for this was ace! Radio X have really pulled one out of the bag gettting these two stars!”

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will be playing London’s Royal Albert Hall on 10 December, which will be their last concert in the UK until April 2016 when they return from their world tour.

Extra tickets were put on sale for their Royal Albert Hall show due to high demand. Tickets will be on sale 4 December for the show on 10 December. Tickets will be limited to two per person and will be printed with the bookers name on to stop touts getting hold of these tickets.

Fans can buy Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds 7″ vinyl of The Dying of the Light from 11 December which would make the perfect christmas presents for a fan.
